Road traffic safety is continuous development: in the future, the operation of tunnels will require a separate tunnel competence

Fintraffic road traffic centres operate 26 road and urban tunnels throughout Finland. The safety-critical nature of tunnels differs from that of the rest of the traffic environment, which is why ensuring uniform and safe operating methods is particularly important when working with tunnels. This has been addressed in the development of Fintraffic's road traffic management, and in recent years, for the first time ever a new training and testing method has been developed in Finland for the qualification of professionals working with tunnels. Fintraffic’s Board of Directors has appointed Sanna Järvenpää, MSc (Tech), as CEO of Fintraffic Railway as of 29 June 2023. Järvenpää succeeds Pia Julin, who became CEO of Fintraffic on 14 June 2023.

Fintraffic’s Board of Directors has appointed Pia Julin, MSc. (Tech), eMBA, as the company’s CEO as of 14 June 2023. Julin succeeds Pertti Korhonen, who has been Fintraffic’s CEO since 2019 and will be leaving the company as agreed with the Board of Directors. Korhonen will now be focusing on his work with growth companies and an investment bank.

Finding public transport services, timetables and routes is now easier than ever in Finland. The route planner opas.matka.fi was updated on 30 March 2023. The route planning services of other public transport service providers will also improve, as they mainly use data from the same backend system, which is now even more comprehensive for Finland as a whole.
