For years traffic and transportation technology has been transforming the society. With the rapid pace of innovation comes new trends and exciting technologies that will take traffic and transportation into the future. Fintraffic's view about future traffic is seen in our Traffic 2030 Vision, in our goal to create the world’s safest and smoothest and lowest emissions traffic in Finland together with our partners. This blog post lists my personal view on TOP 10+1 technology trends that will shape the year 2024 of traffic and transportation.
Sitra’s first Most Interesting Data Economy Solutions in Finland list highlights the 24 most interesting data solutions from various industries and regions in Finland. The Port Activity application developed by Fintraffic and Satakunta University of Applied Sciences, as well as the rulebook work by Traffic Data Ecosystem, were both identified as successful examples of promoting data economy.
The new Fintraffic Mobile application brings real-time traffic data from Finnish roads and rail traffic to road users and rail passengers. The application utilises real-time data obtained directly from Fintraffic’s traffic centres. Location-based push notifications inform the user immediately when something abnormal happens nearby on the roads or on a preferred rail route.
The Digilog seminar was held for the second time this autumn, bringing together a wide range of professionals working in logistics. The presentations began with the Key Note speech from Fintraffic CEO Pia Julin.
Multimodality will be a game changer in the future! Traffic modes should no longer be treated as silos but rather handled jointly, as an overall traffic system. Fintraffic and Frequentis experts have written together a White Paper describing their joint vision for multimodal traffic management and control for the year 2030.
Bauer Media, the market leader in commercial radio, will start offering AI-enriched, real-time and local traffic announcements to radio listeners together with state-owned traffic management company Fintraffic. This is a socially significant project the kind of which has not previously been implemented in Finland.
