The ITS World Congress is the biggest event focused on smart mobility and the digitalisation of transport. The congresses are the yearly celebration of smart mobility: they underline the importance of Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS), particularly in cities and regions where they are hosted. The events are important channels to raise awareness of smart mobility solutions among policy makers, experts and the general public.

The lifting of pandemic-related restrictions can be clearly seen in the rising volumes of various modes of transport in July-September. Road traffic volumes have already recovered to almost pre-pandemic levels. In rail traffic, the volumes of cargo transport in particular are rising substantially. Growth has also begun in air traffic, albeit more slowly than in the rest of Europe.

The temporary truck park control system at the Vaalimaa border crossing will be discontinued on 7 August 2021. From then on, goods traffic will be directed from the parking area to the Customs service point using a system of traffic lights.
