FAQ

I have a drone, do I need to use Fintraffic Sky?
Answer: It depends: If you are flying in an controlled airspace or anywhere in Finland above 120 meters, you need to submit a drone plan on Fintraffic Sky. Exceptions are areas which are reserved for drone flights/RC planes (green areas on Fintraffic Sky) where flying above 120 meters doesn't require an announcement unless some other airspace reservation overlaps with the green area and restricts the usage of the green area.  It's always better to submit a drone plan because if there are other drone pilots in the same area or otherwise there is a need to contact you then contact details can be found.

How do I know where is free and restricted airspace?
Answer: On Fintraffic Sky you can see active airspace areas with solid lines (not with dotted lines) with different colors, green, yellow, red, blue. A green area indicates that it's meant for drones/RC planes. However, it might overlap with an active restricted/prohibited/danger area which limits flying a drone there. Click the area to see more information. If you are in an area where there is nothing shown, you are in a free airspace.
