The schedule and method of implementation for the renewal of technical systems in the Vuosaari road tunnel have been established: work in the tunnel will begin with the dismantling of old systems in spring 2025.

The current system protecting the passage of trains is nearing the end of its life cycle, and the plan in the Digirail project is to renew the system on the entire Finnish railway network. Fintraffic Railway Ltd. and Siemens Mobility have signed contract on supplying a Centralised Safety System on Digirail’s first commercial track section on the Lielahti-Rauma/Pori track line. Thanks to the agreement, Digirail will now be moving towards concreteness.

The work on the traffic management system of Ring Road III between Highway 1 Turunväylä and Motorway 170 Itäväylä will be completed shortly. The renewed traffic information displays will be introduced as soon as at the turn of September and October.

Fintraffic road traffic centres operate 26 road and urban tunnels throughout Finland. This has been addressed in the development of Fintraffic's road traffic management, and in recent years, for the first time ever a new training and testing method has been developed in Finland for the qualification of professionals working with tunnels. Fintraffic’s Board of Directors has appointed Sanna Järvenpää, MSc (Tech), as CEO of Fintraffic Railway as of 29 June 2023. Järvenpää succeeds Pia Julin, who became CEO of Fintraffic on 14 June 2023.
