What does “Export as a Service” mean in practice? Accelerating export-driven growth is an important part of the task assigned to Fintraffic by the Ministry of Transport and Communications. What have we done to promote the export efforts of Finnish companies in practice? Let’s hear it from companies that are members of the export cluster coordinated by Fintraffic.

The objectives of Fintraffic’s Air Navigation Services for 2026 focus on legal compliance, digitalisation of aviation, and promoting staff well-being and competencies.

The NELSON project hosted its stakeholder conference International Cooperation and Digitalisation in Maritime on 25 November 2025. The event brought together a wide range of perspectives on maritime digitalisation—from international cooperation and port digitalisation to e-navigation, remote pilotage and the future skills needed in our evolving ecosystem.

Fintraffic VTS is actively contributing to the developing of future of maritime services through the MaDaMe and ORMOBASS projects, co-funded by the EU’s Interreg Baltic Sea Region programme. After two years of development and testing, it is time to share our first results and discuss new services and opportunities together with maritime industry stakeholders.

Fintraffic has become aware of fraudulent messages being sent under our name. We urge everyone who receives such a message not to click on any links contained in it.

In the third quarter, the use of Fintraffic digital services grew by more than 60%, and the Fintraffic Mobile application crossed the 100,000-download mark. The application brings up-to-date traffic information directly to the user’s phone. There was a moderate increase in the volume of passenger rail traffic and a decrease in freight traffic. The winter forecast for seasonal traffic in Lapland is positive, and air traffic is expected to continue its growth.

Rail traffic has continued to increase in April-June, especially in commuter train traffic. Trains arrived at their destinations more punctually than at the same time last year. In air traffic, the number of domestic and international flights has remained at the same level as during last year’s second quarter, but the number of overflights through Finnish airspace has decreased substantially. Growth in volume of heavy goods traffic halted on roads after the spring. Demand for traffic data is growing: Fintraffic’s digital services attracted 2.6 million visits, which is 40% more than the year before.

The Finnish aviation community is seeking shared solutions and coordinated measures to reduce unruly behaviour. In May, just before the busiest flight season, the community launches a joint campaign titled “Put yourself in flight mode”.

On 1 May 2025, the busiest fairways in the Port of Turku will introduce new meeting and overtaking prohibition areas for merchant vessels, which will harmonise and clarify traffic regulations in the area.
