Demand for digital transport services on the rise – Fintraffic Mobile crosses the 100,000-download mark
In the third quarter, the use of Fintraffic digital services grew by more than 60%, and the Fintraffic Mobile application crossed the 100,000-download mark. The application brings up-to-date traffic information directly to the user’s phone. There was a moderate increase in the volume of passenger rail traffic and a decrease in freight traffic. The winter forecast for seasonal traffic in Lapland is positive, and air traffic is expected to continue its growth.
Punctuality of trains improved, and number of trains increased from a year ago - Growth of heavy traffic on roads came to a halt
Rail traffic has continued to increase in April-June, especially in commuter train traffic. Trains arrived at their destinations more punctually than at the same time last year. In air traffic, the number of domestic and international flights has remained at the same level as during last year’s second quarter, but the number of overflights through Finnish airspace has decreased substantially. Growth in volume of heavy goods traffic halted on roads after the spring. Demand for traffic data is growing: Fintraffic’s digital services attracted 2.6 million visits, which is 40% more than the year before.

The Finnish aviation community is seeking shared solutions and coordinated measures to reduce unruly behaviour. In May, just before the busiest flight season, the community launches a joint campaign titled “Put yourself in flight mode”.
