Fintraffic’s Air Navigation Services’ Flight Planning Centre (FPC) was established 15 years ago. Its purpose was to centralise support for air navigation services nationally at a single location. The Flan Planning Centre is a unique entity in Finland, and there is no equivalent anywhere in Europe. To celebrate the FPC’s anniversary, we are taking a look at how centralised flight planning services have been built over the years up to today.

Improvement work on the alternative route of the Vuosaari road tunnel begins on 14 October

The alternative route for Vuosaari road tunnel on the section Itäväylä–Kallvikintie–Niinisaarentie–Vuosaari Harbour will be improved during late 2024 and spring 2025. Roadworks on the alternative route begin on Monday, 14 October 2024.  By improving the route, we are preparing for the extensive renovation of the Vuosaari tunnel’s technical features, which begins next year and will last for nearly one year, during which time the alternative route of the tunnel will serve as a detour.

After graduation, straight to work: Fintraffic gets 20 new rail traffic controllers

Twenty new rail traffic controllers graduated at Fintraffic this summer. Each of them has undergone a training period of about six months, including an induction period, a theoretical learning period, a simulation phase and a job orientation phase.

Vuosaari road tunnel repairs to begin in spring 2025 - planning progressing on schedule

The schedule and method of implementation for the renewal of technical systems in the Vuosaari road tunnel have been established: work in the tunnel will begin with the dismantling of old systems in spring 2025.

Pia Julin is Fintraffic’s new CEO

Fintraffic’s Board of Directors has appointed Pia Julin, MSc. (Tech), eMBA, as the company’s CEO as of 14 June 2023. Julin succeeds Pertti Korhonen, who has been Fintraffic’s CEO since 2019 and will be leaving the company as agreed with the Board of Directors. Korhonen will now be focusing on his work with growth companies and an investment bank.
