Fintraffic’s Air Navigation Services has organised CISM activities as peer support activities in which volunteers in the work community are trained in the CISM method and on encountering a colleague who has encountered a sudden crisis.

Europe has one of the safest railway networks in the world – major accidents are rare and significant accidents have decreased over the last two decades. The European Union Agency for Railways has published its 2024 report on railway safety and interoperability on the EU level. Finland already has an efficient, economical and environmentally-friendly airspace, which will be updated with the Airspace2027 project to meet new user needs that have emerged over the past decade. Avia College, a specialist vocational education institution owned by Fintraffic Air Navigation Services, won the bidding competition on basic training for Georgian air traffic controllers for the second time. The coming autumn will also include several other international training courses.

Under EU legislation, each EU country must draw up a performance plan setting out the objectives for services covered by the legislation. The first period (2012–2014) was three years, after which the planning periods were extended to five years. In Finland, the regulation covers the en-route service and the air navigation service of Helsinki Airport.

Digirail is in the process of collaboration with Finnish telecom operators to design a common disturbance map view that enables efficient train traffic.

One of Fintraffic’s basic tasks in rail traffic management is to ensure safe and smooth rail traffic on Finnish railways. The almost three-year-old Situation Coordinator service plays an important role in succeeding in this task. The service allows the railway network to deal with disruptions more quickly, safely and efficiently, as all essential information is transmitted from one party to another in a transparent manner. Since the beginning of 2024, the service has been produced under the partnership agreement between the Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency and Fintraffic Railway. What does the change mean in practice?

Twenty new rail traffic controllers graduated at Fintraffic this summer. Each of them has undergone a training period of about six months, including an induction period, a theoretical learning period, a simulation phase and a job orientation phase.
