The reliability of the variable speed limit and information signs on roads will be further improved. Fintraffic Road will be updating the operating systems governing these signs on 27 April. The update will significantly reduce the susceptibility of variable speed limit and information signs to disruption and thus help provide drivers with uninterrupted information on poor road conditions, congestion or accidents.
System update 27 April: Variable speed limit signs with reduced fixed safe speeds
Fintraffic Road will update road traffic operating systems on Tuesday 27 April. The system update will be launched after the morning peak, at 09.30. The update is estimated to take no more than 8 hours.
Road users are asked to note that while the update is ongoing, the variable speed limit signs will not be under the control of the Fintraffic Traffic Management Centre but will instead be set to fixed 100 km or 80 km speed limits, depending on the road section. Also, directional and informational signs on these road sections will be deactivated.
Decreased safety speed limits will be applied on the following road sections during the update:
After the update is complete, the Fintraffic Traffic Management Centre will return the speed limits to the normal level for each road section, according to the traffic situation and road conditions.
The update will also cause changes to the Traffic Customer Service feedback channel, palautevayla.fi: On 27 April, there will be a delay in forwarding notifications requiring contractor action from Traffic Customer Service. Contractor messages will be forwarded by Traffic Customer Service as soon as the update is complete. In urgent problem situations on the road, please phone the Road User helpline at 0200 2100 (local call charge). The helpline of Traffic Customer Service at 0295 020 600 will also be normally available on the day (09.00 to 16.00).
