ANS Finland is adjusting its operations due to restrictions resulting from the coronavirus epidemic. The flight cancellations due to the coronavirus have altered the demand for air navigation services and the workload has been substantially reduced.
The cooperation negotiations took place this week and the week before. During the negotiations, representatives of the company and the personnel came together to agree on adjustment measures.
“The situation in air traffic has taken quite an abrupt turn. Our goal has been to adjust expenses as quickly as possible. I’m grateful to the employees’ for their active and understanding participation in the cooperation process as well as their commitment to this, hopefully brief, change. We are in this situation together, and together we will come out of it,” says Raine Luojus, CEO of ANS Finland.
As a result of the adjustment measures, ANS Finland plans to lay off its entire personnel in different units from 6 April to 31 May, and engage in measures such as amending the schedules of major investment projects. The plans may change as more detailed information on the coronavirus epidemic and its impact on air traffic becomes clear.
“The situation has worsened quickly and we are facing a dramatic change in terms of air traffic. In this adjustment process, I have been satisfied with our positive cooperation with both the employer and all the employees of ANS Finland. Our goal is to come out of this difficult situation together,” says Katariina Syväys, Chief Shop Steward of the Finnish Air Traffic Controllers Association.
ANS Finland’s cooperation negotiations concern 415 permanent employees. All regular scheduled flights from Jyväskylä, Kajaani, Kokkola and Kemi airports have been cancelled until the end of April. The number of flights from Helsinki Airport and several other airports has significantly decreased.
