Fintraffic ANS and its Avia College, together with the Finnish Meteorological Institute and Vaisala, organized an Advanced Meteorological Training course for six aviation weather experts from Azerbaijan. The participants represented AZANS (Azerbaijan Air Navigation Services), the organization responsible for air traffic control within the airspace of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
This was the very first training of its kind held at Avia College. Designed in close cooperation with the Finnish Meteorological Institute and Vaisala, the program was tailored specifically for aviation meteorology experts, providing cutting-edge knowledge and practical expertise in aviation weather services.
The course covered a wide range of advanced topics, including:
- Weather radar
- Vaisala IRS solutions
- Impact-based aviation forecasting
- Visibility in NWS’s
- Convective weather
- Wind shear
- Aeronautical observations
- Advanced satellite training
- Icing and turbulence
