Personal data processed

Whose personal data is processed by Air Navigation Services (who are the “data subjects”)?

  • For radio communications, aircrew and ground traffic operators on the airside.
  • With regard to telephone communications, customers who contact the Air Navigation Services’ air traffic control service number concerning aviation accidents, incidents and other deviations.

Data collected by Air Navigation Services on the use the services

  • Personal data such as speech, including communication metadata such as the time and duration of messages contained in recordings collected from air traffic radio and telephone communications.

Purpose of processing

Air Navigation Services processes personal data in order to provide an air traffic service which requires the storage and processing of communication data in accordance with section 116 of the Aviation Act. The basis for the processing of personal data is the fulfilment of Air Navigation Services’ legal obligations.

Retention periods of personal data

Air Navigation Control retains personal data for 3 months after the time of recording.
