Personal data we process

Whose personal data is processed by Air Navigation Services ("data subjects")
  • Commanders of aircrafts or vessels, flight planners and aircraft operators.
  • For telephone communications, customers who contact the unit by telephone or who the unit contacts by telephone.
Personal data provided to Air Navigation Services by the data subject or a representative of the organisation that is a data subject
  • Contact details and other identification information to be included in the flight plan form, such as name, telephone number and email address, as well as information describing the aircraft, such as the aircraft ID.
  • Personal data contained in recordings collected via air traffic telephone communications, e.g. speech, including communication metadata such as time and duration of messages.
Purposes of processing

Air Navigation Services processes personal data for the processing of flight plans in order to ensure the safety and efficiency of air traffic in accordance with international agreements and laws. The processing of personal data is based on the fulfilment of the statutory obligations of Air Navigation Services. Air Navigation Services also processes the data contained in the flight plan form also for the purpose of invoicing of flight routes. Where necessary, personal data required for carrying out flight route invoicing may be disclosed to the CRCO (centralised invoicing), which is part of Eurocontrol.

Personal data retention periods

The retention period for personal data processed by Flight Planning Services is under 5 years.
